I’VE been waiting all month, dear Mordochka, to tell you this story.  It’s about a little stuffed dog. Yes, stuffed dogs are completely real to the children who own them. They love them just as much as I love you.

A family with two little girls went for a short vacation. They had a wonderful time until, on the drive home, the younger girl, Juniper, suddenly began to cry and cry and cry!  Through all her tears all she could say was, “Ruff Ruff. . . ?”

The family then understood that Juniper’s favorite stuffed dog, Ruff Ruff, had been left at the hotel. As soon as they discovered what happened, Juniper’s mom called the Hilton Hotel where they had been staying and asked if someone had found Ruff Ruff. Happily, Ruff Ruff was safely sitting in the hotel’s LOST AND FOUND room. But it’s what happened next that is the real story, Mordochka.

Before the hotel workers put Ruff Ruff in a box to send him home, they decided to give him a vacation.  Ruff Ruff sat by the pool, worked out in the exercise room, had a cookie in the dining room, helped in the office, and finally slept on a really, really big bed all of his own.

Three days later, a big box arrived in the mail for Juniper. Her older sister helped open it. There, inside, was Ruff Ruff smiling up at them. But then they found a big box of chocolate chip cookies and five large photos of Ruff Ruff enjoying his vacation at the hotel. There was also a note from the hotel staff:

       Dear Juniper,
Thanks for letting us borrow Ruff Ruff for a day! He was such a big help around the hotel. Don’t worry, he didn’t work too hard and we gave him plenty of playtime! He’s missed you so much!
Thanks again, and hope you and Ruff Ruff visit us again soon!

Juniper’s mom posted the story and photos on social media so others might feel the kind- ness and love shown by a staff of selfless workers towards 1 little girl.  Millions of people did.
