One of our younger students was shown these pictures from an online book and told to write a new story for the pictures. The original story can be found on the site Story Weaver. It is called, Best Foot Forward by Rustom Dadachanji.
Hello! I’m special.
I have 42 feet and 42 shoes!
I have shelves for all my shoes so I don’t lose them. I have 2 red, 2 yellow, 2 blue, 2 green and 2 of many other colors.
One day I went for a walk. A little beetle asked me, “What is your favorite pair of shoes?”
“This blue and white pair,” answered I.
Then the beetle said, “Well, your shoes are beautiful, but are they comfortable?!”
“No, not really. Maybe this red pair is comfortable” answered I.
Just then a dragonfly and her friend came by. They said, “Our feet are free and happy! Why wear shoes?!”
“I do not know but I always wear shoes before I go out. Hmm. Your question is so hard to solve!”
“NO! It’s easy!,” said all the bugs. “Just take off your shoes and see for yourself how wonderful it is.”
So for the first time in my life, I took off my shoes and
. . . IT WAS WONDERFUL!
After that bugs never wore shoes again.
