Thanks from afar

Friends around the world send the editor notes at Thanksgiving time expressing their appreciation that a country stops once a year to give thanks. This letter from a friend in Russia seemed like it needed to be shared with our readers.

YOUR Thanksgiving celebration is truly unique, as I say every year to my friends. Most countries in the world have some form of harvest celebration. But the first immigrants to arrive in America invited to their harvest celebration people of another culture and even with other gods. In the place of honor appeared not different vegetables, but different people. And so your Thanksgiving day became a true celebration.  —Nikolai
