OUR world is full of amazing people but not everyone understands this or hears about them. One of these people is Erik Weihenmayer. He has been blind almost all his life, but he has the ability to move away from the adversity and pain that he feels everyday and do amazing thingsthings that nobody could imagine.  For example, he climbed the tallest mountain in the world. It is really amazing to think that a blind person could climb to the top of Mount Everest! Everyone is always asking him, “What makes you keep going and never stop?” He says: There is a light inside every human. The harder the challenge, the brighter this light burns and this is the way, how I feel alive.

I can’t even imagine what kind of person you could be to keep going in a situation like this. He is an amazing person. This is the only word I can use to describe him.  —Vanya

ERIK has climbed the seven highest summits in the world. Less than 200 people in the world have done this. In 2005 he co-founded an organization called No Barriers, USA.  The motto of the group is: What’s inside you is stronger than what’s in your way.  The organization helps wounded soldiers.
