My name is wonderful, too! (Readers write)

Last month we ran a story about the meaning of names from around the world. As a result, two of our readers sent in their own stories.  Thank you!

I KNOW all about difficult names. My maiden name was Abdelnour.  Someone actually made the comment that I’d be glad to change my last name when I got married. Really? From “Servant of Light”?

MY name is Winifred.  It means “friend or winner of peace,” so I love it, although I prefer being called Winnie, as in Winnie the Pooh. When I was a Camp Fire Girl we had to chose a Native American name.  I chose Gizigobenesik because I was proud that I could pronounce it!
