THE summer of 2009, my aunt wanted to fly to Qing dao and take my brother and me with her. It was my first time on an airplane. I was very excited. When we found our seats on the airplane, my seat was in the middle and not next to the window. My brother’s seat was next to the window. Because it was my first time, I really wanted the window seat but my brother didn’t want to give me his seat because it was his first time too. But my aunt told my brother to switch with me. My brother is older than me so my aunt thought that I should have the window. He didn’t say anything, but he was angry.

When it came time for lunch, I chose beef and rice. My brother chose chicken and rice. During lunch I got up to go wash my hands. When I came back I saw that all my beef was gone. There was only rice. I looked at my brother’s plate and saw that he still had a lot of chicken. I didn’t say anything, but I knew he ate my beef. After that we didn’t talk to each other on the plane. When we flew, home my brother got the window seat. But I didn’t eat his chicken. —Yuqi
