Larry fishing

Fishing for a compliment: You say something or do something so other people will say something nice about you.  For example. Girl: “Oh, I wonder if my new hair cut is O.K.! Is it too short?”  Boy: “You always look beautiful!  Stop fishing for a compliment!”

He’s in the fast track:  You say this about someone who is working really hard to succeed. But it’s not really a compliment! It means someone who cares about his or her own success more than anything else. You say this about people who don’t really think about others.  For example. John never has time for his friends anymore. He’s in the fast track!
